ABOUT PETRI FIRENZE

Who we are

Unique objects that combine the beauty of nature with the artisan ability of enhancing its every detail, using new and ancient techniques. These are the collections created at the Petri workshop in San Casciano Val di Pesa, in the Florentine hillside. Here, in the heart of the Chianti area, where art, nature, history, and technique have always co-existed and blended together, Simone Petri has founded a company capable of creating veritable objects of wonder.

Shells, fossils, gemstones, crystals, corals, precious woods and animal horns meet precious metals to become furnishing accessories rich in charm and stories to tell. This is how they are transformed into something unique, original, timeless and capable of maintaining their charm forever.

The Petri workshop creations are inspired by the olden ‘Wunderkammer’, the cabinets of wonder that eighteenth century European travellers created when they returned home, to preserve exotic and unusual objects, coffers of emotions and memories. Now as then, those suggestions come to enrich the places where we live, to remind us all of the wonder that nature can give. However, the Petri workshop objects surpass the inspiration and charm of the ‘Wunderkammer’, interwoven with contemporary design, with new materials, and with the fresh and elegant touch of contemporary artisanship.

Our history

Dynamism, unique collections, attention to details, and the ability to produce both small and large quantities, respecting the client’s needs and timing: these have always been the company’s strengths. Founded in 1991, the company initially specialized in silverware and silver furnishing accessories, thanks to the owners’ experience gained in other Florentine companies in the industry. Strong of this consolidated ‘know how’, the company began producing for many major global brands in the silver décor industry.

However, over time the public’s tastes and market needs changed, prompting Simone Petri to experiment with new approaches. The collections have become more varied and are now renewed twice a year, and while having maintained the connection with traditional silver work, they have been enriched with unusual objects and materials, from gemstones to quartzes, from corals to shells, from animal horns to fossils. The Petri company is capable of managing the entire production cycle: from the object’s design, even with the use of the latest technology, to the realization of prototypes, up to the delivery of the article, finished in every detail.

Thanks to new collections, in addition to the Italian market that was prevalent in the early years, exports have been added, and now represent the company’s ‘core business’ with important trade opportunities, especially throughout Europe, the United States, and the Arab Countries. Its participation in the main trade fairs such as the Maison et Objet in Paris and Homi in Milan have also made a significant impact.

Today, in addition to supplying other companies and specialty stores, the artisan Petri company primarily works with architects and interior designers: professionals seeking unique, even custom made pieces. Small and great works of art that add a touch of magic to the setting where they are placed.

Nevertheless, one thing hasn't changed: for Simone and his collaborators, creating ‘objects of wonder’ is not just a job: it is also fun, a passion, and the love of beauty. A way to share the pleasure of their discoveries with the company’s clients.
